Between co-founders Gilly and Beckie, we have over 20 years teaching experience between us and are incredibly proud to be supported by a small, personal team.
Gilly
Co-Founder and Teacher
Gilly is one of the co-founders for Coral Bay Swim School. She first moved to the island 12 years ago and fell in love with the relaxed coastal way of life. Gilly has a love for swimming and competed from a young age. You will find Gilly teaching at both pools, or on poolside where she is happy to answer or discuss any swimming related questions.
Beckie
Co-Founder and Teacher
Beckie is a co-founder of Coral Bay Swim School. Beckie has a long history of swimming teaching which started on the mainland. When Beckie moved to the island 12 years ago, she knew her love of teaching would continue. Beckie loves spending time at the beach and wants to share her passion with our swimmers. You can find Beckie teaching at both pools as well as advising and helping poolside.
Leah
Teacher
Having lived on the Isle of Wight her whole life, Leah grew up with a passion for water and sports. At the age of 16, she became a lifeguard and swimming teaching assistant and has since spent 2 years as an instructor onboard cruise ships. This early start laid the foundation for a fulfilling career as a qualified swimming teacher and aquafit instructor. Patience is her ally and she gets a lot of joy from seeing young swimmers gain confidence in the water.
Nicola
Teacher
Nicola has been teaching for almost 20 years. She loves to help those struggling with their water confidence and enjoys helping them to become happy in the water, and to eventually see them happily playing and enjoying their swimming.
When she's not in the pool, she is usually sat with her dog Peggy, in her art studio in her garden!
Katy
Teacher
Katy started teaching swimming in 2017 on the mainland, working for a large leisure centre brand as well as a private swim school in Winchester. She has always loved swimming and working with children, so teaching felt like a natural fit.
Katy joined Coral Bay Swim School last year and has never looked back!
Gwen
Poolside Helper
Gwen has lived on the island for nearly 9 years. She loves to walk her dog along the beautiful coastline as well as enjoying the lovely cafes the island has to offer. You will find Gwen helping on poolside on a Wednesday at our Sandown pool. She is on hand for any first aid incidents and happy to take notes and pass messages on to Gilly and Beckie.
